CEDA Introduction

The Centre for Economic Development and Administration (CEDA) was established om may 15, 1969 under tripartite agreement between His Majesty's Government of Nepal (Nepal Government), Tribhuvan University and the Ford Foundation. Started as an autonomous institution, the center was later integrated into Tribhuvan University and given the status of an Institute on December 15, 1975 after the National Education System Plan (NESP) was implemented. since then, it is providing research, training and consultancy services to Government, Non Government and donor agencies.

New Leadership in CEDA
T.U. Executive Council appointed Dr. Ram Chandra Dhakal Executive Director of the Centre for Economic Development and Administration (CEDA), effective from October 12, 2012. Prior to this appointment, he was associate professor of Economics at the T.U. Central Department of Economics.
Dr. Dhakal obtained his M.A. Degree in Economics from the Tribhuvan University in 2043 B.S. He has earned his Ph.D Degree for his dissertation entitled "A Study of Employment and Income Generation in Informal Sector in Chitwan District, Nepal" from the Lucknow University (India) in 2009.

Born in 1955 in Handikhola in Kaski district Dr. Dhakal has started his career teaching math in various schools. He joined Birendra Multiple Campus, Chitwan, as a lecturer in 2045. Over the last few years, he was involved in teaching economics in post-graduate and M. Phil. level. To his credit, he has supervised around two dozens of M.A. theses and successfully conducted a number of research projects.

Dr. Dhakal is the author of "Mathematical Economics" and "Informal Sector in Nepal: Theory and Practices". Besides, he has over dozens of articles published in different national and international journals. He is now the Chief Editor of the Journal of Development and Administrative Studies (JODAS) published by CEDA.

Dr. Dhakal has attended many national and international seminars, workshops and conferences and has gained extensive contact and knowledge. He is also associated in various capacity with the Ministry of Finance, Nepal Government, in its different activities.
